Exploring the Nature of Initiation: Wild, Chosen, or Illusory
Written on
Chapter 1: Understanding the Essence of Initiation
The concept of initiation in our lives can often feel like a lost opportunity. The societal structure we live in can sometimes overshadow genuine experiences of growth.
The phenomenon of capitalism poses a significant challenge; it can prevent talented individuals from sharing their gifts if they come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Materialism further complicates this, as it often lacks any real initiation throughout life. Achievements such as obtaining a driver's license or participating in religious rites do not equate to true initiation.
Section 1.1: The Reality of Wild Initiation
Wild initiation typically occurs through profound life experiences, such as the loss of loved ones, separation from partners, incarceration, serious illness, or even through practices like meditation or psychedelic experiences. At times, these awakenings appear unexpectedly, hence the term "wild," as they are neither anticipated nor structured.
Trauma can lead to two possible outcomes: it can either result in despair or spark a rebirth.
Subsection 1.1.1: Genuine Change Through Identity Transformation
A true initiation involves a recognized shift in identity, acknowledged by one's community. In some cultures, this is marked by changing one's name. Any significant transformation leads to a new identity. For instance, overcoming an addiction requires a shift from being identified as an addict to adopting a more positive self-image. While self-recognition is essential, adolescents often seek validation from their peers.
Real transformation hinges on identity change—identifying as a non-smoker to quit smoking or as a sober person to cease drinking. This is why substances like psilocybin have gained attention; they can facilitate a shift in self-perception, revealing aspects of ourselves that society often overlooks.
Section 1.2: Embracing Maturity and Self-Recognition
Mature individuals embrace their true selves without feeling the need for external validation. They no longer seek attention to affirm their identities; instead, they find self-acceptance and become catalysts for positive transformation within their communities.
By helping individuals move beyond dysfunction, we can foster a more harmonious existence on a resilient planet.
Chapter 2: Rebuilding the Collective
In contemporary society, genuine initiation often arises when communities come together to form a collective identity, akin to family. Lightworkers require community, something that has been absent since the decline of traditional religions.
Collective celebrations, which can be found momentarily in festivals, concerts, and workshops, evoke nostalgia for a time of unity and foster hope for future togetherness.
The video "Samson - Part 1: Set Apart, Blessed and Stirred" illustrates the journey of self-discovery and the significance of community in personal growth. It emphasizes how individual experiences can be intertwined with collective identities, guiding us toward a more profound understanding of initiation.
