Discovering Your Unique Human Calling: A Journey of Self-Discovery

Chapter 1: The Whispers of Destiny
What are we meant to do with the “whispers of destiny”? What does it signify when you’re uncertain about that voice, yet feel compelled to heed its call? Is this calling universal to all humanity? Can it truly be that a higher power or the universe has instilled such an abundant calling within each of us? Is it too grand, too mythical, or too presumptuous to believe that each individual possesses something that rarely surfaces in our history? One thing is certain: don’t let that whisper fade away.
It’s been eight years since I emerged from the darkest period of my life. I was climbing out of a self-created abyss, battling the demons of my own making that had buried me under layers of despair. Guilt and shame surrounded me, intertwined with the insecurities and fabrications I’d used to ignore my true self since my teenage years. You might wonder, “How does someone escape such profound darkness?” That’s the question most ponder when engulfed by despair.
But I didn’t escape; I dissolved it. I came to understand that the dark, oppressive space I had trapped myself in, while a common human experience, was merely a construct of my mind. It was in that suffocating darkness, that fear of fleeting breaths, that a spark ignited. It was a last effort, not an epiphany or a gentle revelation of self-love, but a fierce desire to prove myself wrong. The act of breathing became more vital than the past mistakes I had made in a relationship or the pain I had inflicted on another.
...
I never aimed to sabotage anyone’s success. Such actions seemed thoughtless to me. Although I sometimes felt bewildered by why others had what I lacked, I never believed in destroying their achievements. It felt counterproductive. I admire those who are passionate, like rock stars or dedicated scientists, and those who dare to challenge the limits of possibility—risking everything for pursuits that most would shy away from. Their extremes showcase the potential of humanity. The human experience is genuine, and the emotions we chase are undeniably real.
So, I recognized that love could indeed be real, even if I had mismanaged it in the past. A clear message emerged: choose better. Choose to love deeply. Choose to live fully. Choose to become a better version of yourself.
...
At that moment, I had no understanding of what success meant—whether in love or life. I was unsure of my identity, my purpose, or my direction. I just knew I was tired. It felt like the tension of a stretched rubber band, teetering on the brink of snapping or rebounding with renewed vigor. My broken heart had plunged me into the darkest days of my life, transforming me into someone unrecognizable—a heavy, iron-clad straight jacket that dulled every aspect of my being.
...
If I understood my own potential, it stood to reason that it existed within everyone else too. Why? Because I was an ordinary person, yet I believed in transforming “no” into “some.” I cannot imagine a reality where only a select few are extraordinary. That notion too easily suggests that heroes and deities walk among us, which is a flawed assumption. This realization became clear to me as I recovered from heartbreak.
Here’s the truth: I recognize that suppression and inequitable circumstances are real. I acknowledge that privilege can create better opportunities for some. I also cannot ignore that distractions and corruption can cloud people’s hearts and minds, preventing them from realizing their true potential. This reflects the darker side of our world.
However, consider this: what if every individual, despite the challenges they face and the beliefs imposed upon them, understood that they were destined for something the world truly needs? What if they could grasp that, beyond the realm of impossibility, they possess the power to achieve something significant in their lives? To transform the world? To evolve themselves? To elevate global consciousness?
...
The question remains: from where does the wisdom to believe in human potential (your potential) originate? Why does it often require experiencing profound darkness to illuminate this understanding? How can we discern a flicker of light in an all-encompassing night? How can we perceive anything when even our own soul feels hidden? Yet, this light exists, regardless of how dark the world may become. That is the essence of human virtue.
...
Why is it that, eight years later, I haven’t surrendered? How is it that I stumble, continue to falter, and yet manage to wipe away the grime of conformity and the stains of self-doubt? It’s not solely due to my vision, although that does foster discipline and intensity. It’s rooted in my belief in the universal potential of humanity—that if the most celebrated and influential individuals possess it, then so do I. Human potential is not a rare gift, but a broadly nurtured ability. I hope you come to see that too.
Truth and Love, Reader.
Note: In retrospect, it’s clear that the woman I once loved was not someone I could have continued loving. Not only because I had much left to discover about myself, but also because, at best, she would have only been beneficial to me if I remained unchanged. The person I was destined to become was far from what she required, and she would not have been what I needed either. Love is our greatest educator, provided we allow it to be.
