Chapter 1: My Journey Begins

For years, I prayed for patience without actively working towards it. However, I’ve come to understand that true visualization involves taking proactive steps towards my goals. I embarked on a meditation journey guided by Joe Dispenza's techniques. In the beginning, I didn’t feel any changes, which was frustrating given my lack of patience. Despite this, I persisted. Dispenza reassures that no meditation is ineffective, so on days when I struggled, I opted for shorter sessions or practiced while engaging in a light mobile game—though these occasions were few. After a month, meditation became easier, and now it’s a delightful part of my daily routine.

What I Learned:

  1. Meditation has greatly enhanced my patience, allowing me to read more by boosting my focus and curiosity. It has also improved my tolerance for life's irritations, such as inconsiderate individuals and stressful environments.
  2. It has heightened my awareness and helped me manage my emotions and impulsivity.
  3. I’ve become less clumsy, avoiding minor accidents like bumping into objects or dropping things.
  4. My anxiety has decreased significantly. Research from Johns Hopkins indicates that meditation can lower blood pressure, heart rate, and enhance mood and concentration.
  5. Meditation enables clearer and more creative thinking, allowing me to tackle challenges effectively. It has sharpened my problem-solving abilities by making me more mindful and patient.
  6. My attention span has vastly improved; I now rate myself an 8 out of 10 for focus on tasks and conversations. Previously, distractions overwhelmed me, but meditation has helped me remain present.
  7. The creative flow has transformed since I started meditating; ideas now come to me effortlessly, thanks to the clarity and focus it provides.
  8. Meditation has helped me recognize, accept, and reframe negative thoughts without my conscious effort.
  9. It has significantly alleviated my tendency to overthink and worry excessively.
  10. Additionally, meditation has played a vital role in reducing my tachycardia. My heart rate, which used to exceed 100 beats per minute, is now comfortably in the 80s due to my practice.

Don't just take my word for it; experience it for yourself! The only area where I haven’t seen much improvement is my insomnia, which has been a long-standing issue. However, I’ve come across studies indicating that meditation can be beneficial for sleep as well.

Chapter 2: How I Started

I initiated my meditation practice with sessions lasting 5 minutes, gradually extending to 10 and then 15 minutes over time. You can determine the duration that suits you; even a mere 10 minutes can positively impact your life! My meditation routine takes place first thing in the morning.

Meditation doesn't have to be limited to silent sitting. There are numerous ways to practice, including:

  • Walking while listening to a guided meditation
  • Engaging in breathwork
  • Journaling or coloring
  • Cleaning or drawing
  • Showering
  • Reading in a language you’re not fluent in
  • Gardening
  • Praying
  • Lying down and staring at the ceiling
