Reflecting on Change: Saying Goodbye to a Publication
Written on
Chapter 1: The Decision to Move On
Lately, I’ve found myself deep in thought. While it might be a risky endeavor, hear me out. In order to enhance my writing and boost my chances of success, I realize that I must simplify my approach. This means minimizing distractions and maximizing my time and efforts. A crucial step in this process is letting go of things that no longer benefit me. It’s time for my publication to take its final bow.
At first glance, this might come off as a defeatist viewpoint. After all, Peace, Love & Crappiness is just starting out. There’s a chance to nurture this small venture into something significant if I truly wished to. However, the truth is, I lack that desire.
There are outstanding publications on Medium, complete with dedicated editors and writers striving for success. I genuinely admire the commitment and enthusiasm that goes into those efforts.
Yet, that’s not the path I wish to tread.
I have a deep love for writing. My passion lies in crafting words and sharing them with others. However, I don’t share the same enthusiasm for the labor required to build and expand a publication. It struck me that my energy would be better invested in writing itself.
While I have no intention of branding Peace, Love & Crappiness, I do aspire to establish a brand around my own name, Diane Brander. Did you hear that in Sean Connery’s voice? I certainly did.
Choosing to step away was straightforward since Peace, Love & Crappiness is still in its infancy. I won’t be disappointing any collaborators because there are none to let down; I never got that far.
I am grateful for the support I have received from Medium readers during these few short months since launching my publication. This will be the final entry for Peace, Love & Crappiness, but it certainly won’t be the last time you hear from me. I’ll continue to write and to collaborate with the amazing publications I’ve connected with. I look forward to this new chapter, free from distractions.
Thank you for your support.
Wishing you all the peace, love, and joy in the world.
Diane.
