Discovering the Power of Morning and Night Meditation Practices

Chapter 1: The Journey Begins
Recently, I embarked on a spontaneous three-day digital detox from Instagram. My experiences and insights can be found in the linked article below:
This experience served as a catalyst for me to establish firmer boundaries with my phone usage. It left me with a clearer mind, free from the spiral of comparison, and I felt like I reclaimed a significant portion of my life. Just over a week later, the universe seemed to respond to my intentions.
While enjoying a day at the beach in La Punta, Puerto Escondido, Mexico, my iPhone 11 Pro fell directly into the wet sand, rendering the screen useless. Remarkably, it continued functioning long enough for me to complete a deep breathwork session. Soon after, it flickered its last electronic signal, granting me an unexpected detox from my phone once again.
If you check out the article above (it’s a quick read!), you’ll discover how much this reduction in phone usage enhanced my meditation and breathwork practices. What started as a few sessions a week evolved into daily morning and evening rituals.
Now, I’m astonished at how much I’ve embraced this routine. Without my phone in the picture, I've dedicated up to an hour each morning and night to nurturing myself through stillness and deep breathing.
For those fortunate enough to keep their phones (or for those who prefer reading about it), here’s what I’ve learned: engaging in breathwork and meditation can teach you the art of letting go.
Chapter 2: Understanding Letting Go
Letting go might sound abstract and even confusing at times. What does it mean to “let go”? It’s not like simply opening a door. However, the beauty of surrendering comes when we learn to release our grip on people, things, and dreams, preventing us from stifling what we truly desire.
I found an enlightening article by KayDee about the concept of letting go, titled "Wu-Wei | The Art of Letting Things Happen," which beautifully encapsulates this idea.
As we learn to let go, we create a natural flow within ourselves that reflects in our external world. There’s nothing quite like lying down and trying to quiet the mind, which cultivates patience, trust, and a sense of timelessness.
The ego may resist this process, insisting on distractions and urgent tasks, but through meditation and breathwork, we strengthen our ability to release those pressing thoughts, the outside world, and even parts of ourselves. This state of becoming "nothing yet everything" significantly reduces previous worries.
I found that my response to life’s little annoyances has transformed. Whether it’s someone not replying, a disrupted plan, or waiting for a phone replacement, I’ve cultivated a sense of inner peace by letting go.
Chapter 3: Inner and Outer Reflections
Our inner world often mirrors our outer reality. We can be significantly affected by our surroundings— a minor inconvenience can throw off our entire day.
Although we cannot always control our external triggers, we can manage our mental and emotional landscape. The more serene and present we are internally, the clearer our perspective becomes regarding the world outside us. This shift leads to more love, compassion, and less negativity.
By dedicating time each morning and night to cleanse my inner world, I noticed a decrease in reactivity to external situations. As I cultivated a sense of calm within, the world around me responded in kind.
It may feel insignificant at times when practicing meditation—especially when distractions arise—but the compound effects of these practices have permeated every aspect of my life. I feel more aligned with my true self, less affected by unforeseen challenges, and I find myself increasingly grateful.
Chapter 4: Emotional Hygiene and Wellbeing
Recognizing and processing emotions is vital for mental health. Ignoring feelings can lead to significant problems, much like neglecting dental hygiene leads to serious tooth issues.
I realized how often we live busily without pausing to check in with ourselves. This neglect can cause minor emotions to accumulate and escalate into larger issues.
The world is gradually recognizing the importance of emotional health alongside physical well-being. Repressed feelings can even manifest as physical ailments in the body. Resources like The Holistic Psychologist provide valuable insights on this matter.
Through increased breathwork and meditation, I became more attuned to my subtle emotions, sometimes feeling tears during meditation or experiencing overwhelming joy.
As a breathwork facilitator and someone who journals regularly, I’ve become accustomed to acknowledging my emotions. However, I was surprised by how easily I could dismiss them throughout my day, only to confront them later.
The entire process has shifted my energy towards clarity, alignment, and peace.
