Finding Balance in Writing: Managing Health and Passion

Chapter 1: The Impact of Writing on Health
Writing has become a significant part of my life lately, but it seems to be taking a toll on my well-being. While the image might exaggerate my situation, I find myself increasingly absorbed in writing on Medium. This engagement has led to three key benefits:
- I’m producing content daily, a habit I had previously abandoned.
- My skills as a content creator are improving.
- I’m beginning to earn a respectable income from my contributions.
Section 1.1: Consequences of Overindulgence
However, this newfound enthusiasm comes with its drawbacks. I’m experiencing several adverse effects on my health:
- I’m not getting enough sleep.
- My diet has deteriorated.
- I’ve ceased regular exercise.
Given my already demanding schedule of over 60 hours of work each week, finding time to write two articles daily on Medium, while also engaging with fellow writers, has consumed most of my free time. Instead of getting to bed early, I find myself writing late into the night. Instead of exercising, I’m glued to my screen. And rather than preparing healthy meals, I often resort to takeout to save time.
I realize I need to make some changes.
Section 1.2: Reevaluating Priorities
While sharing my experiences through daily articles has been enjoyable, it’s crucial to step back and reassess my priorities. My ultimate aim is to generate a sustainable online income that allows me more quality time with friends and family. By prioritizing Medium above all else, I risk losing sight of my true objectives. My goal should be to enhance my quality of life, not compromise it.
This doesn’t mean I will abandon writing; on the contrary, I aspire to broaden my topics. I want to engage in fitness challenges and share those journeys. I envision cooking alongside my partner and crafting stories that reflect our experiences together.
As I’ve been primarily focused on writing about Medium, it’s only natural, given that it occupies most of my time. Now, it’s essential to strike a balance between my life and my writing pursuits, ensuring that life takes precedence. I’m granting myself permission to post less frequently, allowing for personal time as needed.
But before I step back, I want to make a grand exit!

This idea I’m contemplating could either be seen as wild or brilliant—or perhaps both!
